Which Essential Oils Should I Use During My Pregnancy?

Which essential oils are best to use when pregnant? Which essential oils should I stay away from while pregnant?

These are common questions that many mothers have. Essential oils are a powerful resource that you can use to help alleviate discomfort. There are many types of essential oils for pregnancy, but not every essential oil is the right fit.

Some essential oils might even be harmful to you while pregnant, so it is important you do your own research, and always reach out to your doula before adding a new essential oil.

So, what essential oils are safe to use during pregnancy?

Stork Helpers has put together five essential oils that are great for pregnant women to use.

Use These Five Essential Oils During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time of great physical and emotional change, and many women turn to essential oils to help support them during this special time. However, it's important to note that not all essential oils are safe to use during pregnancy.

Here are five essential oils we recommend using during pregnancy.

Lavender

Lavender is an essential oil known for its calming properties, and it can help to reduce stress and anxiety. It's also great for helping to promote relaxation and restful sleep. This is perfect for mamas who are lacking in sleep, or have trouble relaxing at the end of the day!

Geranium

This essential oil is known for its hormone-balancing properties and can help to reduce feelings of fatigue and exhaustion. It's also great for helping to improve skin elasticity and prevent stretch marks. Use geranium if you find that you are wired and anxious at the end of the day, or you are struggling with stretch mark pain. You got this, mama!

Peppermint

Peppermint is known for its soothing properties and can help to relieve nausea and morning sickness. It's also great for helping to alleviate headaches and muscle aches. Just be sure you are using peppermint in its essential oil form, as many peppermint-flavored foods are stuffed full of sugar. Peppermint essential oil will deliver nothing but soothing relief without the extra sugar.

Frankincense

This essential oil is known for its grounding properties and can help to reduce stress and anxiety. It's also great for helping to improve skin elasticity and prevent stretch marks. Frankincense is one of the oldest essential oils in the world and mamas have been using it to reduce their anxiety for generations.

Rose

Rose is known for its emotional balancing properties and can help to reduce feelings of depression and anxiety. It's also great for helping to improve skin elasticity and prevent stretch marks. This essential oil produces a pleasing aroma and can help you overcome your toughest challenges.

Three Essential Oils You Should Never Use During Pregnancy

While many essential oils are a great resource to help you overcome the challenges of pregnancy, not all essential oils should be taken.

Here are three essential oils you should never take while pregnant.

Rosemary

Rosemary is known to stimulate the uterus and should never be used while pregnant.

Sage

Sage can also stimulate the uterus and should be avoided during pregnancy.

Clary Sage

Clary sage can affect hormone levels. Do not use this essential oil while pregnant.

It is important to avoid stimulating the uterus and keep hormone levels balanced while pregnant. Also, be sure to avoid any essential oils that thin the blood or cause contractions as they can cause harm to your baby or promote premature labor.
